Bolgheri

In the hinterland of the Costa Degli Etruschi, less than 10 km from the sea, you can discover a small pearl, the little village of Bolgheri.

You will arrive there driving the famous Viale Dei Cipressi, a 5 km long road with tall cypress trees, that from the Via Aurelia will take you right in front of the village.

This is a really characteristic and evocative road, celebrated by one of the most important Italian poets in the 19th century, Giosuè Carducci. In his lyric “In front of San Guido” he commemorates places from his childhood and especially these great trees.

Getting to the village, you will glimse among the trees the fascinating red brick Castle of Bolgheri, so beautiful and perfect like if it had just come out of a book of fairy tales.

The city center is just beyond this beautiful castle.

At arrival you can leave the car, there is a small car park on your right.

Few steps, while you can take some good pictures and you will be in front of the tower to access the village. Just above the door you will certainly notice the coat of arms of the Counts Della Gherardesca, an ancient noble Family that owned the Castle since 1200.

Bolgheri will captivate you with its old hamlet, its characteristic stone and brick houses, the shops full of local delicacies and wine products, the small restaurants and the wine bars.

Visiting the village doesn’t take long time, but you should enjoy it slowly.

Bolgheri is perfect for a relaxing walk among the characteristic roads and shops, enjoying a tasty snack or an aperitif.

Stop here for a romantic dinner at sunset, then at night when enlighted, the castle is really amazing and it will be the perfect location for a special evening.

If you are traveling with children, you will also find restaurants with gardens and openair spaces where they can play safely.
