Cycle tourism in Maremma

 

Maremma is one of the most fascinating places in Tuscany and it is a natural paradise for all cycling lovers. Tucked away in a lush natural environment, amid woods and wonderful valleys, with many minor and wide roads, crossing Maremma by bike is a really intense experience for all cyclists.
Maremma inhabitants really know the value of their land, that is the ideal location to practice cycling: thanks to the big attention they pay to the environment and to the constant conservation of the territory, visitors will really enjoy this land by their beloved two-wheels.

When you plan a cycling holiday, the first thing you have to choose is the accommodation: you have to locate the right place very carefully, first since Maremma is a very wide territory (almost a third of all Tuscany); then because, when you get back at the end of the day, you will need all comforts to enjoy an optimal rest and to be ready to leave next morning for a new exploration.

If instead you prefer a solitary experience, in full contact with nature and relying only on your strength, in Maremma there are more than 30 bike paths for all level of ability, from the most expert to the beginner: for example, crossing the Natural Park of Montioni you can reach the wonderful beach of Cala Violina.

Maremma territory is suitable for all types of cyclists: do you love sun, beach and surfing? The right solution is the Ciclopista Del Sole, an itinerary that splits up Italy from Brenner to Sicily and crosses Maremma for 100 km, going from the coast inland to Magliano Di Toscana. The route is full of breathtaking landscapes, unspoiled nature, tranquility and relaxing silence. If the Ciclopista del Sole is too short for you and you are looking for a real challenge, then you have to venture the Grand Tour of Maremma. The route is 366 km long and passes through the most authentic environment of Maremma: enclosed within a circular itinerary that starts and ends in Massa Marittima, you will discover ancient buried civilizations and breathtaking landscapes, such as the hills surrounding Manciano, the Monte Argentario, the Maremma countryside until Castiglione della Pescaia and the Metalliferous Hills of Massa Marittima.
